Aruba is known for its Sun, Surf and Sand.

Visitors to this stunning Caribbean island are known to kick back and enjoy themselves at Aruba's plethora of beaches, bars and restaurants.
However, for those of us who are also fitness inclined, there are excellent spots for cardio exercise on The One Happy Island.
Malmok Boardwalk
As I have written about before, my favorite walk is along the beach on the Malmok Boardwalk.
Opened during the pandemic, this 2.5 mile out-and-back stretch of paved surface runs from the Hadicurari windsurfing beach next to the Ritz-Carlton hotel and ends with your arrival near Tres Trapi Beach north of Malmok.
As you walk or run down the Boardwalk, you will gaze at the jaw-dropping colors of the Caribbean Sea as you pass divi divi tree-lined beaches.
End your workout with yoga or stretching or simply sit on a park bench and admire the mesmerizing kitesurfers.
Free parking is available near the trailhead at Hadicurari Beach, and the Malmok Boardwalk is easily accessible from the main tourist area of Palm Beach.
Hooiberg
If you are into more strenuous and adventurous exercise, then definitely tackle the steps to the summit of the Hooiberg, one of Aruba's highest points.
Standing at 541 feet high, Hooiberg has become an Instagram darling with fitness influencers.
Hooiberg can be hard to find, although there is some signage from the main road. I used Google Maps to make my way to the parking lot, which was already full on a Tuesday morning at 9:30am.
The challenging ascent to the top will definitely get your pulse going, and the views of the island at the peak are well worth the effort.
If you think you are really in shape, try hiking Hooiberg twice in a row!
Surfside Beach
Nestled between the airport and downtown Oranjestad is Surfside Beach, a great destination not only for fun in the sun but also for physical activity.
Park for free near the Surfside Beach Bar and begin your workout with the exercise stations located on the boardwalk next to the parking lot.
Once you have finished your dips, proceed along the two mile (out-and-back) paved trail to Oranjestad and back.
Along the way, you will find additional exercise equipment and views of sailboats parked along the beach.
When you are finished, kick back at the beach and watch the incoming planes land at the airport.

Please let me know if you have additional free exercise ideas in Aruba, and enjoy The One Happy Island!

I recently released a new album called "Soundtrack for Aruba," which I think you will love.
Several songs on the album are either about and/or inspired by Aruba.
