On a budget but adore good food?
In my opinion the best foodie deal in Dallas is only available Fridays from 10am-4pm at Perry's Steakhouse & Grille, which makes the experience even more worth it.
Having visited both of the Perry's Steakhouse & Grilles in my hometown of Austin, Texas, I recently made a pilgrimage up I-35 to Perry's Dallas' Park District location, advantageously located in Uptown Dallas next to Klyde Warren Park.
My mission was to enjoy Perry's world-famous pork chop Friday lunch for only $19!
Yes, you read that correctly.
For only $19, you get a delectable 18-ounce pork chop paired with creamy mashed potatoes and a delightful cinnamon-flavored applesauce.
The word is absolutely out on this spectacular offer, as the restaurant was packed when my dad and I arrived for our 12:00pm noon reservation (I recommend making a booking on Opentable a few weeks in advance if possible).
In fact, the line to check in at the host station was out the front door, and the upstairs dining room where we were seated was PACKED!
From upstairs, the view of downtown Dallas was world-class and provided a gorgeous backdrop for the lunch hour.
As I sat down and looked around, I noticed about 80% of the diners were enjoying the pork chop lunch.
In fact, the waitstaff told us that Perry's would serve 650 of the pork chop lunches on that Friday alone.
That is over 100 massive pork chop lunches per hour!
While you certainly don't need to order additional items, Perry's full menu is available.
My father and I decided to split a wedge salad to start, and we both really enjoyed the creamy dressing.
Then - the MAIN ATTRACTION arrived!
A beautiful 18-ounce pork chop, which provides a 3-in-1 carnivore experience:
The end cap or "eyelash", which tends to be more marbled with fat
The center-cut loin in the middle, which is least marbled
The ribs, which you are told to cut and eat by hand.
I cut into the marbled piece. It was moist and dripping with juicy pork fat.
I then cut into the middle - perfectly cooked and at least two inches thick.
Finally, I cut into the ribs and picked one up with my hands, feeling like a caveman.
The pork chop's flavor is a smoky barbecue giving the dish an almost wood-fired taste.
Embarrassingly, I could only finish half of my meal.
At the table next to me; however, several guys had cleaned their plates - and it looked like they had to go back to work afterward! If it was me, I would be in a food coma!
If you have an even bigger appetite and want to attempt tackling the colossal 36-ounce, dinner-sized portion of the pork chop, then plan your visit to Perry's on Tuesday, August 27 - which is National Pork Chop Day.
Available only on that day, you can enjoy Perry's famous, award-winning pork favorites + more with a 4-course menu for only $44.
